Awake Too Long

I watched the rise and the fall and the countermath
I lived to see all the steps fall back
I watched the worlds all crashed and crumbling
Just to be renamed while we slept.

Wait to surf in the ocean's winding
We promise peace but the peace won't last
Cause now we're forced to play so nervously
Waiting for this hunger to eat at us.

I'm still gone in the rubble
Like a silt to numb
I see a lot.

I've been awake too long
Wished there was something that could close my eyes

To fall asleep.

We fell in love but the love is running out
We follow roads but the roads are lent
We live to learn, and learn to live with them
Falling from the madness we assemble.

I've seen the eyes of the ones left behind

For battles they begin.
