Black Ashes

I hear it coming through the hollow screams
Cutting like a knife through white meat
A distant echo of the machine
Taking us where no one sees ...kill the disease.

The noise now takes the best of me
How much longer will it last
Before a man breaks down, and darkness sets.

The smell of death cuts through the cold
Steam rises up through blackened skies
Within this soul the fire died.
