Darkened Seas Collide

Dying alone, silence breaks
In shifting moonlight
A sleeping sorrow awakes
Tortured heart, lead me away
Before darkness is embraced.

All soils of the land
Worms shall cover them
Lice in man, and in beast
All flesh shall perish together
And man shall turn again unto dust.

Thou shook off the dirt and came into the mire
Servants take pleasure in stones
Whose foundation is in the dust
Which are crushed before the moth.

Sanctioned here warm in spirit
Yet bones full of sin
Entwined from where wrath has been
Out of the ground be risen
Formed beast of the shield
All fowl of the air and field.

Lo, those windswept shores blow so far
Hammered deep, ruthless gusts of might
And signs of wonder, and signs of cruel rebirth
Engulfing the suffering
Darkened seas collide
Crashing forth under stars of brooding lives that dwelled before.

Their souls, long since withered
Are still in my hands
Calls of unseen grief
Like a mirror of the sky.
