I heard of you passing for a Cheyenne chiefs's son
From some trader made his money in rot gut
I went to the valley they called Bitter Creek
You'd left three weeks before tears on your cheeks.

In the middle of snow storm in the middle of the night
You were there telling me that you were alright
Then like a monster invading our dream
I awoke ten years later hearing your screams.

At last I found you in the spring of '83
A Cheyenne princess you still looked to me
I walked up to you and looked into your eyes
My little girl finally by her daddy's side.
