From four hundred states assemble
Riders in thousands
And peril looms over our land
In the summer of the fourth year of the Koan Era.

Fearless
Men of Kamakura
A true martial spirit
Reveal to the world with a thunderous roar.

The barbarians of the West
Who are they? A Mongol host
Arrogant and insolent.

No sky shall be shared with them!
In loyalty we extend our arms
And for the nation
Test our swords.

To the waters of Tsukushi
Through waves we advance.

Those brave warriors
Who do not return
Fall and become the guardians of the land.

The Gods of Hakozaki
Where your vows were heard
Know well the spirit of Yamato.

Heavens grew angry, and the ocean's
Billows were in tempest tossed
They who came to work us evil
Thousands of the Mongol host
Sank and perished in the sea deapths
Of that horde survived but three
Swift the sky was clear, and moonbeams
Shone upon the Ghenkai Sea.
