Ginnungagap

The winds of change pollinate in an empty field
And the rune stones fade into the unreal
Our raft was built of dust and debris
But now is all but driftwood in the cosmic sea
There are more ghosts here than living souls
And our roots we no longer know
Hiding between buildings instead of towering mountains
The city lights instead of stars to guide us through
The cold nights dwindle into mild days
The ice melts and the earth decays
The oceans rise and the forests burn and the soil turns to sand.

The great emptiness is now in our hearts and we fill it with stones
Gathered into dying swarms and yet we feel alone
The gods are dead to the eyes of concrete
But their life springs forth from beneath our feet
It pulses with life from distant light and breath like frost on winter nights
Wash your face in the stream and sleep the night on miss
Hear the sound of the woods and stare at the stars
I will silence what is artificial
If only for this moment in time
The brick and the mortar kill the birch and pine
The serpents tongue only lies
I will redefine necessity
And listen to the wind through pine.

I will lose myself in silence and the hum of ancient stars
I will feel the earth beneath me and roam the mountains near and far
I will treasure all that lives and dies upon Ymir's back
I will rest my home in what came forth from Ginungagap
