I Was Here

Sometimes I get all caught up in these frustration
No my mamma's good raising just disappears
I forget how far and deep a careless word can fly
I hurt the ones I hold so dear.

Sometimes between the ruts and the rain
The trainwrecks and the paychecks
I get to feeling so damn small.
And I forget that when it's all said and done
I wanna be that someone
Who steps up and spray paints on the wall.

I was here, I'm alive
I did more than survive
Changed a life, touched a heart
Took a stand, left a mark
Made the most out of all of my years
You won't need to see my name
Carved on a headstone to know
I was here.

Between the fancy gyms, the hot wings and the big screens
You'd think that all i'd ever need was at a shopping mall
I forget the most important things in this life
Just might not be things at all
So i'm going to stop to thank a few of my earthbound angels
For picking me up off the ground
I'm going to stop worrying bought a buck or two
And start thinking bout what'll fill up all them pews
The day they lay me down.
