Lyrics
Sometimes people ask me, do you believe in god?
I say to that question, yes, and no
When I say no, I do not believe in the human way of considering a god. I do not believe in any of the organized religions, that we put on pedestals, and use as an excuse to do whatever we want. And cry for their help whenever we encounter a problem
I do not believe that such people as Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, were gods, or even holy men.
They were simply men. Men who shared a philosophy, but they were not gods. We are all just humans. There is nothing separating me from any other person. We all have the same genetics, the same blood, the same everything. We all stemmed from one common ancestor.
So I believe it is completely wrong to take one person who may have more influence, more power, or more money, to put them on a higher tier of society than the man who may have no home, but has a lot of wise, and important things to say.
I do not believe that any human being should be considered a god. We're all just grains of sand on the beach of life
When I say yes to that question, I tell them that I believe in the Earth. I believe the Earth is one huge living thing, with the power to sustain other, smaller living things. If you think about it, every planet in the solar system... only this one has the power to sustain life, as far as we know.
I believe I would refer to that as a god of sorts. You walk in the woods, you stare at the skies, you sit next to a river, you stare at the ocean. That is a far more legitimate alternative to going to a church, or a synagogue, or a mosque. You are not just celebrating an effigy of a man who spread his philosophy and called himself...or other people called him a god. You are actually in the presence of said deity. When you walk in the woods, you are in the arms of the creator herself.
But, sadly, all of us humans are doing an unforgivable thing. We are slowly but surely tearing ourselves away from what created us. Wouldn't you think it to be wrong, to look at the very woman who pushed you into this world and shoot her in the chest? That would be an unforgivable act, a complete disgrace
Spitting on the person who brought you into this world, looking your gifthorse in the mouth. That is exactly what all of us, as mankind collectively, are doing. Doing to the Earth, the creature that fathered us
Every time we over-develop and take more than we need. Every time we dump toxic chemicals into the ocean or rivers. Every time we drive our gas-guzzling cars by and emit more poison into the air. That is sacrilege
The earth itself has contracted a disease
This disease is us.
