Monolith

My monolith shares its secrets with the wind
It's whispered peak; stretching up towards the sky.

And so I'm ready to break free from this
So please don't judge me and I hope you understand
That I'm, I'm tired of this world
So just release me and unshackle me from this pain.

Feel the weight of this Earth
This spider has spun it's final web inside my head.

I am I, and you are you
the burden in my head
Days decay and rot away
no reasons for this life.

My past, my name, my scars, to keep
My body, yearns for one last sleep
The wind, the rain, the river, embrace
My mind, my soul, my life, erase.

All the bridges we never crossed
all the potential and time we lost
All the chances we'd like to relive
all the hurt we refused to forgive
All the wrongs and all the sins
thinking about what might have been
All the secrets we want to forget
the hardest sorrows are those of regret.

The heartbreaks that came from doubt
the love that our pride cast out
A lot of things you said were right
I just wish we had the foresight
And some things were left unsaid
sometimes we felt misled
