Många var de som föll
Desto fler runt Valhalls fyllda bord
En sorgesång jag skänker dem
Som vidare för I sköldmöars famn

Tankar och tårar till dem som gick hän
Som nu blickar vid Asgårds port
Minnen och kväden skaldas snart
Vid elden I gillestid

Vi som här sitta höjer våra horn
Till de som sitter vid Allfaderns bord
Tillsammans dricker vi segerns full
Till enöga vis

Hemma här I drottens hall
Skålar vi för äring och fred
Ingen sorg bär vi mer
Till glädje och rus vi ger oss hän
