Way in the dark
With the cold, dead stars
Spinning alone
Is all we loved and knew
Sun through the trees
A glint of sea
Smell of rain
Oh the longing's here again

It wasn't s'posed to happen
Still we could not see
All the useless time we wasted
Trying to be free
Hungry for a reason
Desperate for a sign
Though the answers still elude us
Bitterly we'll try
To ask why

Who will we be
When the memories
Of all we've loved
Disappear when we die
This nightmare we're living
The hope to survive
It's never ending
But begins anew each day

Well the stars are silent
As they're watching
Witnessing our gloom
And the struggle just to find our place
While hunted by our doom

Those promises unlived
