Wings Of Steel

I face the demons in my mind
As we fly on through the night
And whisper a prayer for my last day
Beneath the moon and dim starlight

The enemy's life I will take.

Man-made lightning, it rips the night
War birds of prey, in lethal flight.

As the bombs scar the earth below
Wounded planes drop from the sky
A driving rain of flesh and bone
I set the sights for one last try
Target destroyed, we turn to leave
As our wings get blown away
The enemy's guns have hit their mark
Our sacrifice won't be in vain.

In the chaos we are lost
Victory is won but at what cost?
