Beyond The Grave

Carrying the past in motionless trance as I grieve
Invoking the void as I stand in burial reprieve
Ascension of pacing descent – the all too familiar surrounding my needs
A Fallensun flickers in tow, the shining recedes.

An egregious beckoning
To the slab is a soul torn apart
All thoughts travelling too far
Clawing their way to the edge.

No solace is found within and beyond the grave
The light becomes dimmer inside, in an altered life
Feeling the shiver of death in life, the eyes becoming more blank with time
Reckoning draws to a close, compressing all frailty into a vice.

No lost cause for the broken
Pain for healing the pain
Reaching out has become all mundane
Still the drowning in shallows, reaching an elegy's end
Reborn futility in martyred rebirth.

Oh, how the light used to shine
Oh, how the voice used to sing
Oh, how the reality of death was nowhere to find
I still long for change
I still long for warmth
I still long to grasp those who blessed us with their glowing presence.

I see fate's warning in shadows
As I reach the elegy's end
I hear reckoning following behind.
