The Harvest Of Treachery

Once eyes wide open
Arms strong with youthful hunger
A purpose to stride defiantly
Yearning for sense and might.

Armed with steel and trust
Bloodhound brethren in sight
To strike the eternal Worm
Hydra of a thousand lies.

And yet, when silence dies
And the class of swords resounds
When strife and pain embrace
The haughty oaths are all but spent.

Mere words swept by winds
Their hasty flight to herald their cowardice
The stench of fear and greed
Wretched spawn of a rotten seed.

I walked and walked for leagues
Through the forests and heaths
From blackest caves to thrones of oak
The Crown of Pan over the hills...

A toilful voyage through darkness
to behold the triumph of infamy
Honor, valour, pride
Lost wisdom left in the mire...

When steel turns upon steel
When brethren forsake past deeds
When greed and gold corrupts
Once proud men grovel down to the earth.

Naive and trusting
the blood has turned sour
Now estranged, embittered
All fool's hope now lost
Solitude becomes my Throne.

A dawn tainted in crimson hues
Portents for treacherous blood flow
Nourish the cold soil
A sacrifice for their own idols.

Sowing seeds of death
For a harvest of doom.
