Friends In High Places

Not too long ago I came of age
And just about that time I went through some of my darkest days
It didn't take me long to find out who was on my side
And where the warmest friendships burn when things get cold outside.

Time and time again I walked up to that same old door
Smiling faces greeted me from pillows on the floor
They told me of their journeys and they beckoned me to go
To a mountain where there'd never been a footprint in the snow.

If my road got dry and dusty or my winding path should stop

There was always consolation there and always hope
And always one above me who would gladly drop a rope.
