The way is shut
It was made by those who are dead
And the dead keep it.

At the fall of the second age, an allegiance sworn by men
Upon the stone of erech, to aid isildur on the battle plain

But treachery ran deeper, as they worshipped morgoth's son.

When time fell to march for war, and dire was the need
They hid beneath the mountains, declined to fulfill their deed
Resentful of their betrayal, isildur's bane was cast
Until their pledge accomplished, the curse on them would last.

In the caves beneath the mountains bound to be consumed
A subterranean realm, never to be exhumed
As ghosts they haunted valleys, and shut the dimholt path
Dreaded was their kingdom, uncontainable was their wrath.

Legions of haradrim, fought vainly against the dead
As a wave of trampled terror they cleansed the infested land
For their aid in battle, their oath was held fulfilled
The army of the shadow host, now free of all their guilt.
