We are but shades and shadows
Little more than dust
Empty and hollow.

Sullen shades and shadows, little more than dust, broken and empty inside
Hearts created hollow, hopeless and lost, loveless, lifeless and blind.

On all these quiet faces, there is no pleasure or pain
Their empty hands hold nothing, barely a flicker of life still remains.

Ghosts upon the gallows, choked by despair, without breath, without joy
Haunted by sorrow, sightless we stare, into the void.

There is only silence here when all hope has withdrawn.

All those we loved in life, ignore and pass us by
Forgotten and forsaken, naught but phantoms in their eyes.
